MAINTEX HELD TRAINING SEMINARS FOR METALLOINVEST PERSONNEL
09.10.2017 MAINTEX

Training seminars “Theory and practice of asset efficiency and reliability management” were held across four Metalloinvest’s sites.

Metalloinvest is a leading global producer of hot briquetted iron and a major producer and supplier of iron ore and metalized iron products.

Metalloinvest extracts iron ore from the second largest measured iron ore reserve base in the world with approximately 14.2 billion tonnes of proven and probable reserves on a JORC (IMC Montan) equivalent basis and about 140 years of reserve life at the current production rate. Major mining and beneficiation enterprises, Lebedinsky GOK and Mikhailovsky GOK, and steel plants, Oskol Electrometallurgical Plant (OEMK) and Ural Steel, participated in the project.

Technical equipment reliability management is an urgent issue for Russian companies. There are not many reliability experts, that is why Metalloinvest Group management decided to train their own employees. Particularly, specialists were retrained as reliability engineers and maintenance engineers.

Practical training included analysis of pilot site criticality and development of a maintenance program based on the most critical and commonly used equipment using the RCM, FMEA and FMECA methodologies. Practical training covered the following topics:

  • Analysis of equipment criticality;

  • Analysis of the current maintenance program;

  • RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) analysis and FMEA/ FMECA of the equipment;

  • Recommendation management;

  • Development of an equipment strategy taking into account target budget and risks;

  • Development of an updated maintenance program.

The agenda of practical and theoretical training seminars was designed for the following employees: reliability engineers, technical engineers, process personnel, and planning personnel. At each site, at least 15 employees were trained.

“Such a large scale training of specialists at several Metalloinvest’s sites at once was a challenge for us,” said Roman Romakhin, Maintex Executive Director. “There is a huge move in Russian market in the area of reliability improvement and personnel training on new skills under new conditions. Such giants as Metalloinvest, true industry leaders, are ready to change and adapt to the new market conditions, implementing the latest technologies and investing in development of promising specialists. This is encouraging and promises much for the future.”
