EXEPLANT PARTICIPATES IN DIGITAL MINE DEPLOYMENT AT THE ATOMIC COMPANY KAZATOMPROM
15.07.2016 EXEPLANT

Exeplant participated in pilot deployment of the Digital Mine system at Kazatomprom–SaUran. Following the deployment, qualitative and quantitative growth in many operational dimensions is expected.

Among the prerequisites for the system deployment there was a need for standardization of the accounting process and production data flows, significant increase in production data volume and a need to minimize the human factor impact. The main objective of the project was to increase operational performance.

The Digital Mine system provides timely collection and analysis of big volumes of production data and, as a consequence, much faster detection and resolution of issues related to loss of performance. The transparent process, enabled by the system, helps to reduce downtimes: whereas before it took a week to eliminate the problem, now it takes only 3 days.

Apart from detection of operational failures, one of the key benefit is automatic calculation of performance indicators. Before the Digital Mine all the records were kept manually. After the deployment, Kazatomprom employees reported significant decrease in paperwork.

"Our project is designed to optimize planning, accounting, and primary and secondary work processes. It covers all the key technological stages: extraction, processing and refinement. This site, the Kazatomprom–SaUran mine, was chosen for pilot implementation of the system. We started works in December 2015 and as of today have completed the first stage. The Digital Mine system is in operation, and data collection is being carried out. We are planning to launch the second stage in the nearest future and before its completion we will start the roll-out," said Azat Igenberlin, IT Department Head at NAC Kazatomprom.

Expected results include operational cost reduction, capacity utilization increase, reduction of manual data entry/search and other performance improvements.
